LIVERMORE, Calif. – September 27, 2022 – Winemaker, viticulturist and chief farming officer are just a few ways one might know Carlo Mondavi, co-founder of Monarch Tractor, but one moniker remains unwavering, devoted supporter for regenerative and sustainable farming.
In 2016, Carlo established The Monarch Challenge to raise awareness to help save the Monarch butterfly population that has declined by 90% since the introduction of herbicides into the market in 1974 and is currently under threat of extinction.
Carlo's determination and passion can be felt across farming communities from his vineyard along the Sonoma Coast to wine growing projects reaching the Mediterranean Sea, and his latest venture of building fully electric, driver-optional, intelligent tractors to drive farming towards a smart digital future.
Continuing to make news headlines in his advocacy for cleaner and healthier farming practices, Carlo explains his aspiration to “get away from fossil fuels in farming and stop the use of herbicides". He goes on to say, “Biodiversity is how our planet thrives, and I believe that creating balance is important for our survival".
